Before starting the low fodmap elimination, I was low key nervous. If you aren’t sure what fodmaps are, check out my post here! The idea of not being able to have garlic or onions was heartbreaking (I know dramatic). I wasn’t too worried about meal prepping, but condiments were a whole different store.
It was super hard to find low fodmap condiments that were also paleo-friendly. A lot of them were filled with added sugar, preservatives, and I wasn’t about that. That is when I decided to make my own condiments. The first condiment to tackle is BBQ sauce.
This is my most used condiment during the week! It makes any dish taste better, in my opinion. My favorite recipes to add it to is chicken thighs and any salad I throw together. With summer right around the corner, whether you are doing low fodmap or not, you need this BBQ sauce!
I love making my own condiments because you can make it once, and it lasts for a solid couple of months. It was a bit intimidating at first as you know what BBQ sauce tastes like, but what are those flavors? Or what if I f*ck it up? Honestly, it doesn’t really matter as you tailor it to your tastes and health needs!
I definitely know in the future I want to make my own ketchup, salad dressings (I am really into just olive oil and infused vinegar), and maybe my own mustard! Who knows what I will think of? But I’ve chatted long enough!
